NHL Playoffs Picks – Our Quick Analysis!

April 12th, 2011

We are very excited about the upcoming National Hockey League postseason. There are going to be some excellent match-ups, with several teams capable of winning the whole thing. Instead of giving you individual match-ups, we are going to provide you with odds to win each division and a few of our favorite picks:

In the Eastern Conference, it appears to be wide open. The top of the conference was bunched up with some excellent teams. If going by strictly standings, the Washington Capitals beat Philadelphia and Pittsburgh by just a single point; but five teams finished with 100+ points. According to odds makers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are 9 to 2 favorites. The Penguins will open the postseason with the Tampa Bay Lightning; another 100+ team. The Penguins have the second highest scoring differential in the Eastern Conference. It depends on Crosby’s health to determine how good the Penguins will be. Betting Pittsburgh at 9 to 2 is a risk, with bookmakers like 5Dimes and BetUS (both of which also have poker sites attached) having them at slightly better odds from what I checked this morning.

Washington is 12 to 5 to win the Eastern Conference. They will have all sorts of problems with the Rangers in the first round. New York has been the Capitals three out of four times this season. We never like placing bets on a team that is questionable to win the first round. Our favorite is the Boston Bruins at 17 to 4. The Bruins have been one of the best defensive teams in all of the NHL. Boston only allowed 195 goals on the season. They finished with 103 points on the year.

If you are looking for the best value bet of the conference playoffs; bet the Boston Bruins at 17 to 4. The remainder: Philadelphia 4 to 1, Buffalo 15 to 1, Montreal 20 to 1, Rangers 20 to 1 and Tampa Bay 8 to 1.

In the Western Conference, all teams will be gunning for the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks barely made it into the postseason, and had it not been for Minnesota winning on the final day, Chicago would not be in. The Blackhawks will open up the postseason at Vancouver. The Canucks are easily the favorite to win the Western Conference; a 7 to 5. This is not a bad bet, because of how good the Canucks are, but we like another team better.

That team is the San Jose Sharks. Yes, we are aware of the Sharks postseason problems, but this is the year they fix those problems. San Jose finished with 105 points; second best in the West. They will take on the Kings in the first round. The Sharks are 15 to 4 to win the Western Conference. We feel this is the best value bet. With our money, we are betting the San Jose Sharks 15 to 4. The rest of the odds: Detroit 7 to 1, Chicago 8 to 1, Nashville 12 to 1, Anaheim 12 to 1, Phoenix 15 to 1 and Los Angeles 16 to 1.

Good luck with all your National Hockey League bets. We are going to continue giving you our NHL bets for all four rounds of the road to the Stanley Cup. Drop the puck!

NHL Betting for Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

April 2nd, 2011

The National Hockey League will feature some excellent action on the ice on Saturday night. With just a few games left in the regular season, teams are either wrapping up their season or trying to jockey for position in the postseason race. Here are a few games and game-line betting odds for Saturday April 2nd, 2011 that we are betting on:

Atlanta Thrashers vs. Boston Bruins (PL)

Two teams out of the Eastern Conference will tussle. The Thrashers are doing anything they can to stay in the race, while the Bruins are trying to hold onto that third seed. Atlanta comes into the game in 11th place; 9 points behind the New York Rangers. The Thrashers are coming off a win, but any loss in their last five games would send them packing for the season.

Boston is the third seed in the Eastern Conference; with 97 points. The Bruins lead Montreal by eight points, so a win and the division is theirs. The Bruins would also like to catch Washington for the second seed (101 points). Our prediction for this game: We think Boston will blow them out, so we are taking the Bruins puckline (+125).

Dallas Stars at Los Angeles Kings (-154)

A similiar situation will occur with two teams out of the Western Conference. The Dallas Stars will play at Los Angeles, in an effort to down the Kings. The Stars are in 9th place in the Western Conference; three points behind the Chicago Blackhawks for the final position. Dallas has lost five straight games to fall out of the race.

Los Angeles comes into the game as the fifth seed in the conference. Los Angeles trails Phoenix by just a single point, as they are also knotted with Phoenix. The Kings are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. We look for Los Angeles to continue Dallas’ struggles and come away with a home win. Bet the Kings!

Anaheim Ducks +146 @ San Jose Sharks

Our final game features two teams that are currently heading to the playoffs.  Anaheim is 7th, with 93 points. The Ducks trail Nashville and Los Angeles by a single point, and are three points ahead of 8th seeded Chicago. The Sharks come into the game with a spot in the postseason already wrapped up. They have 99 points; which is a single point ahead of Detroit for the second seed.

We love the road underdog in this game. Anaheim is better than most people think. The Ducks can defend, and have played really well as of late. Their three game winning streak is what got them back in the race. Bet Anaheim +146 over San Jose!

This should be a fun day of hockey! Be sure to bet all your favorite NHL teams!

Puck Picks: Friday March 18th, 2011

March 18th, 2011

The season is coming to a close in the next few weeks. The postseason races in both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference are wide open. The action on the ice is sure to be heated as teams try to make one last dash to get into the postseason, or to increase their chances at the postseason. We are going to take a look at a few of our favorite games for Friday night:

Washington Capitals PL @ New Jersey Devils:

The Washington Capitals have a chance to move to the top spot in the Eastern Conference. On Friday they will take on the New Jersey Devils. Washington has one of the top offensive teams in the league, and we look for them to onslaught the Devils offensively on Friday night. Washington wins this game by scoring 6 goals. Take the Capitals via puckline and win some cash!

New York Islanders/Carolina Hurricanes over 5.5:

Neither of these teams appear to be heading late into the postseason. But, the game still has to be played. Typically when two teams late in the year are playing for very little, offense wins out. Look for this game to go well over the 5.5. We like this game to feature 7 goals.

Phoenix Coyotes @ Vancouver Canucks PL:

Our final game will feature the Phoenix Coyotes at the Vancouver Canucks. Phoenix needs wins to stay in the mix in the Western Conference. Vancouver just continues to win games, and appear to be  the NHL’s favorite heading into the postseason. The Canucks have over 100 points on the season. They play even better when they are at home. Home is where they will be Friday night. Look for Vancouver to win this game 4-1. We are betting the Vancouver Canucks at using the puckline to win some decent money!

Good luck with all your NHL bets. We will see you all next week!

Hockey Action: Friday March 11th, 2011

March 11th, 2011

The National Hockey League season just keeps rolling by. Once again, Friday night shows some pretty good games on the ice. Let’s take a look at three of them that we are looking to bet on for tonight:

Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals PL +125

The Hurricanes need wins. They are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference; just two points behind the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres for the final postseason spot in the East. Their opponent, the Washington Capitals are in second place in the East; just four points behind the Flyers. The Capitals have actually been better on the road than they have at home. Look for this game to be a high scoring game, with Washington scoring a late empty net goal to cover the spread. We like Washington via the puckline for +125 odds.

Anaheim Ducks -125 @ Colorado Avalanche

The Anaheim Ducks will take on the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. The Ducks are in the mix with eight other teams for the 4th – 10th seeds in the Western Conference. The Ducks are two points behind Los Angeles for 8th place. Colorado is not going anywhere come postseason time. The Avalanche are just ahead of Edmonton for the worst record in the conference. Look for Anaheim to play well and come away with a win. Bet the Ducks -125 over Colorado.

Los Angeles Kings @ Columbus Blue Jackets +110

Our last game features two more teams from the big mix in the Western Conference. Los Angeles is in 8th with 79 points, while Columbus has fallen to 12th place. The Blue Jackets just took two big losses to the Blues this last week, which hurt their postseason chances. Overall, Columbus has lost six straight games. We look for that streak to end, as they come away with a home win over the Kings. Take the slight underdog, and bet the Columbus Blue Jackets +110!

Good luck with all your picks and predictions on the ice!

Hockey Bets: Sunday February 27th, 2011

February 26th, 2011

With just 20 games to play, teams are sensing some urgency to win more hockey games as the run for the playoffs begin. The action on the ice Sunday sees seven games. We are set to give you the best bet in three of the games and give you the lines for all types of hockey betting online.  Check out our picks below for more information guys.

St. Louis Blues +143 @ Calgary Flames

One of the teams with a huge sense to win games is the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are in 13th place in the Western Conference, but trail 8th seeded  by just six points. The Flames are the 8th seeded team right now, mixed up with a bunch of other teams in a tight race. The Blues have struggled a bit on the road, but we look for them to carry over their success in Edmonton the other night with a win at Calgary. We are taking +143, for the underdog St. Louis Blues over the Calgary Flames.

Boston Bruins PL @ Edmonton Oilers

Comfortably in the playoff picture out of the Eastern Conference, the Boston Bruins come in as the third seed behind Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. The Bruins have won four in a row overall. They will head out west and take on the Oilers, who have the least amount of points in the NHL. The Bruins are huge favorites, but are taking them via puckline +130. Boston wins 5-1.

Colorado Avalanche @ Anaheim Ducks over 5.5

Our last game for Sunday features two Western Conference foes. If you are out of the West you have a shot at the postseason, and you have a shot to be left out. Colorado is in 14th place, 12 points back of a postseason spot. The Ducks are in 11th place, which show them at just 2 points behind. Look for this game to be a high scoring affair, which shows why we like the over 5.5. Anaheim 5-4 over Colorado in this game.

Hockey Picks: Thursday February 10th, 2011

February 10th, 2011

Let’s talk some hockey. There are some solid games on the ice for Thursday night. We are going to give you three of our favorite picks for Thursday night!

Carolina Hurricanes @ Philadelphia Flyers – puckline

Both teams are in the race for the postseason, with the Hurricanes coming in as the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, while Philadelphia has the most points in the conference. If the postseason started today, the two teams would play in the first round. Carolina has only been out scored by six points on the season, despite their season record. The Flyers are 8-2 in their last ten games and have pulled four points ahead of second seeded Tampa Bay. We like the Flyers to win this game, and win it easy. Philadelphia wins via the puckline, which will pay out +145. Philadelphia 5-3.

Los Angeles Kings @ Pittsburgh Penguins – over 5

The West Coast means the Eastern Conference. The Los Angeles Kings are just three points back of the 8th seed  in the Western Conference. Los Angeles has won two in a row, but just 12-13-1 when playing on the road. Los Angeles has scored 150 goals and allowed 129 on the season. The Penguins have been banged up all season, but still hold up with 72 points on the season. Pittsburgh is without their top two scorers, but still among the leaders in goals scored on the year. Look for this game to be high scoring, with Pittsburgh winning 4-2. Take the over 5 in this game!

Buffalo Sabres @ Florida Panthers -109

The last game we like is the Florida Panthers winning at home over the Buffalo Sabres. The Sabres are just four points back in the Eastern Conference, while Florida is 7 points back. The Sabres have went 13-10-4 on the road this season, while Florida is 11-9-5 at home. We like Florida to use their home ice advantage and come away with the win here. Take Florida -109!

Enjoy the night of hockey. Good luck with all your picks, and check back next week for some more great betting options!

NHL Picks: Saturday February 5th, 2011

February 5th, 2011

Time to give our National Hockey League picks for Saturday February 5th, 2011. Here is a recap of our three favorite games on the day.

San Jose Sharks/Boston Bruins under 5.5

The Sharks seemingly have a tough time scoring when on the road. They have moved up in contention for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, but still can’t seem to find an abundance of goals. Boston is one of the best defensive teams in the Eastern Conference, and the entire NHL. We look for this game to be physical, and low scoring. We are taking Boston 3-2, therefore we like the under 5.5 in the San Jose Sharks/Boston Bruins game.

Dallas Stars vs. Philadelphia Flyers PL

One of the top contenders in the Western Conference will take on the top team in the Eastern Conference. The Dallas Stars are 14-10-1 when playing away from home. Philadelphia has been pretty good at home; winning 17 of 26 overall. The Flyers are big favorites in this game, as they should be. Instead of not winning much money on a Flyers pick, we are betting Philadelphia puckline. We feel Philadelphia will win this game easily. Take the Flyers -1.5 and win +155 betting on it today!

Anaheim Ducks vs. Colorado Avalanche pick’em

Two teams from the Western Conference in a virtual deadlock. The Ducks are 28-21-4 overall and 11-13-3 on the road. The Avalanche sit at 25-20-6 overall and 14-12-3 at home. The odds makers feel this game is a toss up. We are going to go with the home team, using the home crowd and the luxuries of not traveling to win this game. Colorado jumps out early and holds on, winning 4-3. We are taking the Colorado Avalanche in a pick’em over the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday night!

Good luck with all your NHL Picks. Be sure to check back early to mid-week for picks next week!

Puck Picks: Wednesday February 2nd, 2011

February 2nd, 2011

Detroit Red Wings @ Ottawa Senators +153

The team with the second most points in the Western Conference will head to Ottawa. The Red Wings have been just about as good on the road as they have been at home. The Red Wings are coming off a win just following the break. Ottawa trails 8th seeded Atlanta by 15 points, and appear to be heading nowhere come postseason time. The Senators are 9-14-4 when playing at home. We look for an upset in this one, as the travel will wear Detroit down a bit. Ottawa wins this one. Take the Senators +153 at home over Detroit.

Vancouver Canucks -125 @ Phoenix Coyotes

The top team in the Western Conference will head out to the desert to take on the Coyotes. Vancouver is 7 points head of Detroit in the Western Conference, and 2 ahead of Philadelphia in the entire NHL. The Canucks are 15-7-4 when playing on the road and have won their last three games. The Coyotes are currently holding the six seed in the Western Conference, just a single point ahead of three teams. The Coyotes actually have struggled a bit at home, going just 10-9-4. We look for the better team to win this game. We are taking the Vancouver Canucks -125 on the road Wednesday night.

Los Angeles Kings/Edmonton Oilers over 5.5 In a late game featuring the Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers, we are looking for a high scoring game. The Kings have scored 143 goals and allowed 125, while Edmonton has scored 122 and allowed 168. Both teams are currently out of the postseason chase in the Western Conference. This appears to be one of those late games where the winner has five goals. We pick the Kings to win 5-3, therefore taking the over 5.5 in the Los Angeles Kings/Edmonton Oilers game.

Good luck with all your hockey bets!

NHL Picks: Wednesday January 26th, 2011

January 26th, 2011

Wednesday night is the final night of the National Hockey League, before teams go on an extended break for the All Star Game. The best players in the NHL will get together in Carolina and play in the annual event. The event this year is a little different, as it will feature a fantasy style draft to select the teams. We look forward to the big All Star Game. Before that, let’s talk about Wednesday night’s games:

New Jersey Devils/Detroit Red Wings over 5.5

The New Jersey Devils are the worst team in the National Hockey League. On Wednesday, they are going against one of the Stanley Cup favorites come this spring. The Devils and Red Wings will get together at Joe Louis Arena. We expect the Red Wings to win this game, but New Jersey to get on the scoreboard twice. Detroit is tied with Vancouver as the highest scoring team in the Western Conference. Look for that to continue Wednesday night. We expect them to score 5 goals. We are taking the OVER 5.5 goals in the game on ice between the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings.

Washington Capitals @ Atlanta Thrashers +117

Washington and Atlanta are both looking to climb up the standings to catch the Tampa Bay Lightning at the top of the Southeast Division. Washington is 11-9-3 on the road, while the Thrashers have won 11, lost 9 and lost in overtime 5 times in home games. Atlanta is coming into the game on a three game losing streak. We expect that losing streak to end on Wednesday coming away with with a home win over Ovechin and the Capitals. We are betting Atlanta +117 at home over Washington.

St. Louis Blues +119 @ Calgary Flames

Two teams on the outside looking in within the Western Conference will get together in Calgary. St. Louis has 51 points and Calgary has 52. 8th seeded Chicago and Colorado have 56, so it’s a tight race. The Blues have lost three in a row and the Flames have won three in a row, so our pick may not make sense. We expect the Blues to slow down Calgary’s offense and win a 3-2 game. We are betting St. Louis +119 to beat Calgary on Wednesday night.

Have fun and enjoy the action on the ice  tonight!

Ice Matchups: Saturday January 22nd, 2011

January 21st, 2011

There is some great match-ups on the ice for Saturday January 22nd, 2011. We have diagnosed all of the weekend games, and we are going to provide you with our three favorite picks. Enjoy!

Chicago Blackhawks +129 @ Detroit Red Wings

The Chicago Blackhawks are Stanley Cup Champions until someone shows them different. Chicago hasn’t been world beaters this season, but look for them to heat it up, as the season progresses. The Red Wings are in first place in the Central Division, lead Nashville. Detroit has 64 points, while the Blackhawks have 54 points. Look for Patrick Kane to be the difference maker in this game, including the game winning goal. Chicago wins 3-2 and gets positive money for winning!

Carolina Hurricanes @ Pittsburgh Penguins -145

Carolina will just be the team that runs into a buzz saw here. Pittsburgh has been up and down with mostly ups. Without Sidney Crosby, who knows what the Penguins do on a given night. This appears to be the typer of game, Pittsburgh nails their opponent. We are betting the Penguins -145 to beat Carolina on Saturday. We feel this is almost guaranteed win for the Penguins!

Calgary Flames/Vancouver Canucks – total 5.5

The final game we are going to discuss is a simple totals bet. This game featuring two West Coast teams is going to be a high scoring game. Therefore, we are taking the over 5.5 for this game. West Coast game will start late, but the action will not disappoint. Vancouver has a great offense, and Calgary has shown signs up being able to put the puck in the net when they need to. Look for this game to sail over the 5.5 spread. We like 8 goals in this game. Take the over 5.5.

Good luck with all your NHL betting for Saturday and beyond!
